Cockroaches!!!

So everyone knows when cockroaches come out at night, you are just coming downstairs into the kitchen to get a glass of water, and then turn on the light.... you think you just saw three cockroaches just scurry across the floor into the corners.... but you arent sure because you're still half asleep...

The girls are learning to do the same thing sometimes (scattering in all different directions)!!! Now that all three of them are walking, their new thing is to climb on things. They can now climb onto the couch in our bedroom. Of course, we keep taking them off the couch because it will be inevitable that one of them will fall over the side and tumble off.

Now, the more mobile they become, the larger the enclosed play area has become. First, it was just a small 6ftX6ft area.... then they started crawling and that became too small for them. So then we converted the living room into their playpen. That lasted 2 months and it worked for a while. But they started getting "cabin fever" and always wanted to be outside of the living room (especially if grandma and grandpa were outside the enclosure)... now we moved all of those gate enclosures into the patio area outside since it is getting much nicer weather...

So their current play area is practically twice the size of the living room area and outside. We have already learned that they love the outdoors and maybe it's just the nice sea breeze.

We attempted the little kiddie swimming pool again (take 2). the first time, they did not like so much. But since they have been loving their baths now, we figured that the swimming pool would be cool now. . . . And they just loved it!

Emilie sure liked just sitting there and chilling. Madilyn actually likes to sit on the outside of the pool and splash the water with her hands. And Gabriella didnt like it too much this time, but we think it was because she was felling just a bit under the weather with her stomach not feeling well.

Emilie liked the pool so much she climbed back into it on her own the next day! hahahaha

Milestones G'lore!

I guess one of the greatest advantages to having multiples is that they can all learn from each other. This may be a good thing, or a bad thing. Depends how you look at it. I think just as long as we put out a fire early, the others wont really have the inclination to imitate their sister. Sometimes, I cannot put out the fire fast enough and all hell breaks loose. For example, the other day, when I was feeding them their second breakfast (yes, they are part hobbit) which currently consists of chopped fruit and plain yogurt, Emilie started blowing raspberries with the yogurt in her mouth. Of course yogurt got all over her and the floor and me. Soon thereafter, Gabriella copied Emilie, then Madilyn joined in on the fun. . . . That's a fun cleanup

On the other hand, they can learn great things from each other. Yesterday, Emilie got enough courage to stand up on her own and take several steps!

Now this morning, Gabriella, who we thought would be by far the last to learn how to walk, tried standing and walking as well!!! She has always been the one to "follow" in the footsteps of one of her siblings in terms of milestones. Guess she thinks she needs to catch up.

Now I gotta capture Gabi in action. . . I was lucky enough to capture Emilie. :-)

The girls' first car!

As a proud father of three angels and poor as hell with triplets and a new business, I am selective in buying things for my girls. I want to make sure that they get the most use out of what I buy them and they would love playing or wearing what I bought them. So thanks to a Target gift card for the girls from one of my friends as a first birthday present, I put this gift card to good use and bought them their FIRST CAR!!!

Right now I only bought one car because as with all of their toys, there is really no need to have three of everything besides clothes. They can take turns for now and hopefully this way, they will learn faster how to share their things and at the same time, we save $$$! hahahaha. You know, gotta keep creative.

This car has great features...
-- great visibility for the driver
-- it's a HYBRID! = it has a removable floor panel so they can push on their own with their feet
-- factory standard plastic wheels
-- child safety lock on door
-- power steering with horn

I hope the girls like their ride. 16 years from now, I wont be buying them three cars. So their gonna have to learn to share one car.

Welcome to "Trip Daddy"!!!

After discussion with my wife, she wanted me to start this blog on our girls from a husband's point of view. Mainly because all of the blogs out there about triplets and their families are from the woman's point of view. Now here I am with telling our story and our future stories through my eyes.

The above picture is from their first birthday party about a month ago.

Let me formally introduce our girls (for those who have not met them yet):
(Left): Emilie Mai
(Middle): Madilyn Yu
(Right): Gabriella Ai

They were born March 14, 2009. They spent 4 weeks in the NICU @ Sharp Mary Birch, and thanks to the great job my wife did and also to all of the nurses and docs at the hospital, the girls were born @ 31weeks +1.

I love these girls to death.
